Why Are Regular Hygiene And Cleaning Appointments So Important?

Proper oral hygiene is your first line of defense against oral health issues. Without proper brushing and flossing, you may suffer from conditions like tooth decay and periodontal disease, which occur when plaque and bacteria build up in the mouth and attack the teeth and gums.

Regular brushing and flossing is the best way to maintain a healthy smile, but routine cleanings are still important for your oral health. It is impossible to remove plaque and hardened tartar from all surfaces of your teeth with just a toothbrush and dental floss. At DK Dental Care, we use modern dental techniques to remove plaque and tartar and ensure that your mouth is completely free of harmful substances to minimize your risk of tooth decay and gum disease.

We offer a $99 new patient special, which includes a cleaning, x-rays, and an exam. Schedule an appointment today.

What’s The Cost Of A Regular Teeth Cleaning?

Professional teeth cleanings are quite affordable and they are typically covered by insurance. If you have dental insurance, you are likely eligible for up to 2 free cleanings and oral exams per year, depending on your insurance plan.

At DK Dental Care, we work with all major dental insurers. If you’re not sure whether or not your insurance is accepted at our office, give us a call at (414) 529-3253. We always do our best to help you understand and maximize your benefits!

Regardless of whether or not you have dental insurance, you also qualify for the DK Dental Care New Patient Special if you are a first-time visitor to our dental office. For just $99, you will get:

  • A standard cleaning from one of our hygienists
  • A comprehensive exam from Dr. Keeling
  • A complete set of dental x-rays

We do everything we can to keep dental care affordable so you can get the preventative treatment you need in Greenfield, New Berlin and Greendale.

In fact, coming to DK Dental Care for regular teeth cleanings is a great way to save money! Routine oral exams and teeth cleanings help prevent costly dental issues like cavities, infected teeth, and gum disease. By keeping up with proper preventive care, you can save a lot of money in the long run.

Don't have insurance? Wondering how much you’ll pay for a cleaning if you don’t qualify for the new patient special? Just give us a call to talk to one of our patient care coordinators, and we can let you know how much you can expect to pay.

What’s The Difference Between A Regular Cleaning And A “Deep Cleaning?

Regular teeth cleanings are done every six months, and consist of cleaning plaque and tartar away from your teeth, buffing the surface of your teeth and flossing to remove plaque and food particles. Even if your mouth is healthy, a cleaning helps keep your teeth bright, beautiful and cavity-free.

A “deep cleaning,” in contrast, is only required if you have gum disease. It’s used to remove plaque and tartar from between your gums and teeth, and to smooth out the roots of your teeth, where the bacteria that cause gum disease tend to collect. This can reverse the first stage of gum disease (gingivitis) and eliminate it entirely, and halt the effects of more advanced cases of gum disease.

This treatment, which is also sometimes called “scaling and root planing” is more specialized and complex than a standard cleaning. It usually takes two appointments, because one half of your mouth will be treated at the time.

The treatment begins by numbing your mouth. Then, Dr. Keeling will use special dental tools to scrape plaque and tartar away from between your teeth and gums. Then, he will smooth and scale the root of each tooth to remove bacteria. Once the procedure is complete, he may also prescribe antibiotic treatment to help eliminate the bacteria that cause gum disease.
